PITTSBURGH, this Saturday at shadow lounge will be The 4-year anniversary of Classic Material.  This is the longest running "Golden Era" Hip-Hop party in the city.  This month the CM crew celebrates its 4th Anniversary with a little help from a masterful DJ/Producer, Diamond D. Diamond founded the D.I.T.C. crew, in turn launching the careers of Big L, Fat Joe, Lord Finesse, Showbiz & A.G. & others. His production roster reads like a who's-who of hip-hop luminaries, running the gamut from KRS-1 to House of Pain. D will be spinning an all 45-Set of classic Funk & Soul breaks amongst classics from his stellar debut LP, "Stunts, Blunts, & Hip-Hop".  Also make sure to be down shadow lounge Thursday so you can catch world famous Dj Tony Touch at the TIMEBOMB Return of the Boom Bap show along with performances from Varsity Squad, The 58s and Boaz.

Every month at Shadow Lounge DJ Selecta has an event called Classic Material. He brings different old school hiphop DJs from all over the US to come rock it for the 412. Recently he brought DJ House Shoes a badass DJ from the dirty D... er Detroit for those of you that don't know. He's cool as fuck and can rock a party till the sun comes up. Lucky for us he will be doing a monthly at AVA starting in 2011. But since he likes us so much he's decided to stop by once more in 2010. Pac Div is Coming To Pittsburgh!

Rap trio Pac Div will be performing in Pittsburgh at The Shadow Lounge on Thursday, September 30 to kick off their “Underdogs Tour.”

Brothers Like and Mibbs and long time friend BeYoung make up Pac Div. All three were originally part of a larger group, Pacific Division, which released their first project Sealed For Freshness: The Blend Tape in 2006.

After releasing a host of videos, unreleased tracks (most of which have appeared on DJ Sean G’s Lever 2008 and 2009 mixtapes), Pac Div found a home with Universal/Motown Records.

They released their highly praised project Church League Champions which boosted their career. Pac Div received praise for their great lyrical content and eventually their videos for “Mayor” and “Whiplash/Young Black Male” started getting airplay on MTV. Pac Div has also been featured in many magazines such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, and The Source.

This year they released “Don’t Mention It,” their last mixtape until the release of their highly anticipated album “Grown Kids Syndrome” which comes out in the winter.

Pac Div’s show in Pittsburgh will open with performances by local rapper Nick Pratt, and The Varsity Squad (Shade Cobain x Jon Quest x Beedie), as well as Hands Down (Charon Don x DJ Huggy), and LOS & CLG.

The event is open to people 18 years old and older, with the doors opening at The Shadow Lounge at 8pm and performances starting at 9pm. Meet and Greet attendance by email only. The Classic Material family is bringing in yet another guest DJ this month (August 21st), in a year that seems that we've more guests than not. We couldn't resist the rare opportunity to bring DJ Houseshoes back to the Burgh during his brief stint on the left coast. Houseshoes is known for his work with late J Dilla. Actually putting out one of Dilla's earliest remix EP's on his Shoeshouse label back in 1997. Since then Shoes has traveled the world as tour DJ for the likes of Gulity Simpson, Phat Kat, and other Detroit Hip-Hop luminaries. Houseshoes relocated to Los Angeles several years back to run the west coast division of Fat Beats Records and has not looked back since.

Houeshoes will rock a 2 Hour and 30 Min set alongside CM house Dj's, Selecta and SMI. Gene Stovall returns as host for the evening bringing his usual combination of crooning and MC skills to the mix.

Harlem-based DJ Boogie Blind got into the business in 2000. He has played all over the world (and at SXSW) for the X-Ecutioners, Pharoahe Monch and many others. Queens, New York
While a member of the New York City duo Organized Konfusion, Pharoahe Monch developed a reputation as one of underground hip-hop's pre-eminent lyricists, crafting intricate and intelligent raps with partner Prince Poetry. After recording three albums together from 1991-1997, the two split up amicably, and Monch pursued a more aggressive solo style with the terrific independent label Rawkus. He made guest appearances on other artists' records and contributed tracks to the Rawkus compilation Soundbombing II, which raised expectations for his solo debut. The single/video "Simon Says" was released in the summer of 1999 and became a massive hit among rap and club audiences, setting the stage for a surprising debut -- just short of the Top 40 -- for the full-length Internal Affairs upon its release several months later. While he didn't release a second album -- Desire -- until 2007, he was active throughout the intervening years, with fiery singles like "The Life" (with Styles) and "Agent Orange," along with featured spots on tracks by Ras Kass, J Dilla, Pete Rock, and Sa-Ra.
